'The Wiz Live,' a star-studed live action remake of the original 1974 musical, aired Thursday night on NBC.

During the three hour musical, many users took to Twitter to battle out whether the musical's all-black cast was racist.

The original musical featuring an all-black cast by Charlie Smalls based on the book by William F. Brown opened in 1974. In 1975, the musical won seven Tony Awards.

In 1978, the musical was reproduced into a film with Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
