The Islamic State’s official radio station aired a statement Saturday morning saying the mass shooting was performed by two supporters of the terrorist group.
While ISIS praised the attack in San Bernardino, they did not claim responsibility.
Radio report did not say Syed Farook and wife Tashfeen Malik were members of ISIS.
Militants affiliated with IS who carry out attacks are commonly referred to in the group’s propaganda as “lions,” ”fighters” or “mujahedeen.”
President Obama and the team investigating the San Bernardino shootings say that they have not uncovered indication the killers were part of an organized group or formed part of a broader terrorist cell.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
