BALDWIN, N.Y. – The brother of superstar rapper Nicki Minaj has been charged on Long Island for raping a child.

Newsday reports Jelani Maraj, 37, of Baldwin was arraigned Thursday on first-degree rape for assaulting a pre-teen. The victim was 12, a source told the Long Island-based newspaper.

Maraj recently married his longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson at Coral House in Baldwin last August. Minaj was in attendance and posted several pictures on her Instagram of the momentous occasion.

She paid about $30,000 for the wedding hall, which hosted approximately 200 guests.

"I love my brother so much man. Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brother smile."

The news of Maraj's charges comes at the heels of his sister's recent glowing success.

Minaj won American Music Awards' best rap/hip-hop artist and album last month. She also is in talks with ABC about producing as well as acting in a comedy series about her life.

Maraj was released on $100,000 bail from the Nassau County jail in East Meadow, according to the report.

The Nassau County District Attorney did not reveal any information about the case.
