Two dead following 2-vehicle crash, fire at Inwood intersection: cops

INWOOD, N.Y. – Two people are dead following a collision in Inwood early Saturday morning, police said.

Nassau County Police Department said the collision occurred about 4:15 a.m.

A BMW traveling south on Sheridan Boulevard and a garbage truck traveling west on Bayview crashed into each other, causing both vehicles to become in engulfed in flames, according to cops.

The Inwood Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

Two people inside the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.

The driver of the garbage truck was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
