2 men killed, 4 injured after pontoon boat capsizes in Manasquan Inlet

MANASQUAN, New Jersey – Two people have died after a boat capsized Friday afternoon in the chilly waters at Manasquan Inlet, according to New Jersey State Police.

NJSP said Alex Osadchy, 66, and Grigory Klokishner, 74, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were killed after their boat capsized.

Described as a pontoon boat, the vessel flipped over around 1:30 p.m., pitching seven people into the water. Preliminary investigation showed the boat capsized due to a large swell, according to NJSP.

NJSP Marine Services Bureau, NJSP Aviation, U.S. Coast Guard, and NYPD responded to the scene; multiple helicopters could be scene flying over the area.

Osadchy was pronounced dead on the scene and Klokishner was flown to Jersey Shore Hospital where he was he was also pronounced dead. Four others were taken to Ocean Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and one person refused treatment. All seven victims are male, but have not all been identified by authorities.

The investigation is ongoing and the autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
