Google lists popular internet searches during Thanksgiving in NYC

If you wonder about traveling over the river and through the woods in the next few days, just ask Google.

The company has added some new features to the map app. Directions and information can now be stored off-line for those areas where cell service may not be strong.

A Google Trend Expert spoke to PIX11's Greg Mocker about trending searches, which include seafood, cemeteries and tattoo shops (wine store and Natural History Museum also made the list).

Google reviewed anonymous information on searches and traffic patterns from last year. In New York on Thanksgiving Day, the heaviest traffic is much later than in other cities. The busiest time is between 2 and 3 p.m.

Tuesday and Saturday were the 2nd and 3rd heavies traffic days in the NYC area.


Google maps reports there are more than a billion monthly active users in more than 60 countries and 700 major cities. The traffic estimates are based on a a "combination of historical and real-time traffic information."
