1 injured in police-involved shooting in Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — One man was injured in a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon.

Officers pulled over the suspect on Montgomery Street in Crown Heights around 1 p.m.

Police say the suspect fled the scene and got into a car crash.

The 24-year-old suspect then got out of the car with a handgun and allegedly began shooting.

Police returned fire, striking the suspect.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital where his condition is unknown. His identity has not been released.

The police officers were not injured in the shooting.

A loaded semi-automatic Ruger firearm was recovered at the location.

The investigation is ongoing.
