IDAHO, Colo. -- A Colorado woman will spend 12 years in prison for shaking her 16-month-old son to death, the Denver Post reported.

Authorities say Haley Stanfield, 21, called emergency responders to her home in Idaho Springs reporting that her son Logan was choking on a penny.

While the baby was in the hospital on life support, Stanfield posted several times about the condition of her son on Facebook, asking for prayers and support.

It turned out that the little boy had injuries not consistent with her story, including a broken rib.

Logan died at the hospital and after police investigated, they arrested Stanfield for shaking her son to death.

Police say Stanfield waited three days after shaking her son, before she even called emergency responders help.

In a bizarre twist, three weeks after her son died, Stanfield allegedly tried to take a hit out on her boyfriend Joshua Olsen, 23, who was also charged in the little boy's death.

Stanfield will spend 12 years in prison followed by five years parole.
