EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn – The NYPD released graphic surveillance video on Monday night in hopes of trying to capture a gunman that fatally shot a good Samaritan who tried to prevent a robbery inside a Brooklyn bodega.

It happened at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the 560 Grocery and Food Store when a man, now identified as 32-year-old Damion Francis, was inside trying to buy something inside the deli when a robbery went down, according to the NYPD.

One of the two thieves was armed with a gun, and approached the counter and demanded money, cops said. The victim then tried to intercede when the shooter, who was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt and grey pants, fired at him at point-blank range in the torso, police said. The gunman's accomplice was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, according to cops.

The alleged robbers took an undetermined amount of money and fled from the store, police said.

Francis was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
