LIRR West Hempstead Branch restored in both directions after train hits debris

MALVERNE, N.Y. — Service along the Long Island Rail Road West Hempstead Branch has been restored in both directions after a train hits debris Wednesday morning, according to the MTA.

The 5:37 a.m. train from West Hempstead due Valley Stream at 5:52 a.m. was being delayed east of Malverne Station after it struck debris on the tracks, the agency said.

In a 7:30 a.m. update, LIRR said service had been restored in both directions.
