NEW YORK — The gun used to kill NYPD police officer Randolph Holder last Tuesday in East Harlem belonged to a South Carolina state trooper.

It was stolen from the trooper’s car in 2011.

It’s unclear how the gun was obtained by Tyrone Howard, the man who allegedly shot and killed Officer Holder.

The gun was recovered from the Harlem River Sunday. On Monday, ballistics confirmed the gun found was the one used to shoot Holder.

A grand jury indicted Howard Tuesday afternoon. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

The funeral for Officer Holder is taking place today in Queens.
