NEW YORK— A sea of friends, family and fellow law enforcement officers mourned a New York City police officer Tuesday who was fatally shot last week.

viewingA wake for Officer Randolph Holder was held Tuesday at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York in Jamaica, Queens.

Holder died last Tuesday after being shot in the head by a fleeing suspect.

The 33-year-old and his partner had responded to a call of shots fired and a bicycle stolen at gunpoint when a suspect they were chasing opened fire on them.

The suspect, Tyrone Howard, was charged with murder and robbery. His lawyer says there are missing details in the case.

Holder's funeral will be held Wednesday. He will be buried in his native Guyana.
