MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Target is winning over parents with their latest Halloween advertisement featuring a little girl with braces and on crutches modeling as Frozen’s Princess Elsa.
The Minneapolis-based company’s ad especially caught the attention of Jen Spickenagel Kroll, a mother of a girl with arm crutches and prosthetic legs, who wrote a Facebook post thanking them for including a child with disabilities in their seasonal campaign.
“Including children with special needs into advertising makes them less of a spectacle to the general public when they venture out into the real world,” she said. “Normalizing disabilities in children is PRICELESS.”
The post has been shared more than 5,000 times, filled with comments of parents who feel the same way. Likewise on Twitter, others voiced similar sentiments.
Target acknowledged their attempt to be more inclusive in a reply to another delighted guardian on Twitter.
