BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn man died Sunday morning after he was shot in the East New York area of Brooklyn, officials said.

Police say Troy Mitchell, 28, was shot in the chest around 10 a.m. on Van Siclen Avenue -- just a block away from his home. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbors tell PIX11 that Mitchell was a "family man" and father to a 5-year-old boy.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
