Death ruled homicide of woman found dead in bathtub with burns on body in Queens: NYPD

JAMAICA, Queens — Police are investigating the death of a woman found dead with burns in a Queens apartment.

Police responded to 911 calls of a possible assault in progress happening at an apartment at 147-28 90 Ave., in Jamaica. The death has been ruled as a homicide.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, unconscious and unresponsive in a bathtub.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim had burns to her body, according to the NYPD. The Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause of death.

NYPD is looking for Velez-Samayoa's boyfriend Carlos Leon aka Carlos Alvarado.
