Bronx senator to hold major summit on synthetic marijuana today

THE BRONX – A local state senator will hold a mass gathering of elected officials, health experts and more to discuss the K2 epidemic at Jacobi Medical Hospital Friday morning.

In a press release issued by Sen. Jeff Klein from the Bronx, the summit  will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday.

The summit will feature three panels composed of health experts, law enforcement officials and prosecutors who deal with synthetic cannabinoids.

Discussions will focus on the depth of the issue across the state.

Among those expected to attend are: Sen. David Valesky, Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj, Councilman Ritchie Torres, Councilman Andrew Cohen, Public Advocate Letitia James, Deputy Bronx Borough President Aurelia Green,  NYC Department of Health Commissioner Mary Basset, NYC Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Julie Menin and parents dealing with the devastating effects of K2.
