WYLIE, Texas — A 23-year-old man from Wylie, Texas has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after he pretended to be a high school student and sexually abused a young girl, the Dallas Morning News reported.

According to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office, Donavin Jennings claimed to be 15 years old when he met a 12-year-old girl. He was actually 20 years old.

The two began having sex after the girl turned 13, the paper reports.

When the girl turned 14 and attended Wylie High School, it was reported that Jennings pretended to be a 16-year-old student where he would walk the halls with a backpack, escorting the girl to and from class.

The high school later received a tip about the relationship and the girl told the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County that Jennings was abusing her and she didn’t know his age.

Jennings was banned from the school, but when he returned to campus on Jan. 16, 2014, he was arrested.

Jennings also was sentenced to two years in prison for indecency with a child; that sentence will run concurrently.
