BELMONT, Bronx – Police released new surveillance video in hopes of catching the killer of a veteran cab driver late Monday.

Barry Mamadou, 39, was finishing his shift in his green Lincoln Town car when he picked up a passenger in the vicinity of East 138 Street between Cypress Avenue and Brook Avenue, cops said.

Mamadou then drove him to East 189th Street and Beaumont Avenue where his passenger confronted him with a firearm, ultimately shooting Mamadou in the head and killing him in front of 2470 Beaumont Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. Monday, according to police.

The gunman, who appears to be Hispanic with thin build, fled southbound on Crotona Avenue toward East 187th Street, NYPD said. He was last seen wearing a red-hooded sweater with light colored shorts.

Mamadou was survived by three children and a pregnant wife.

"Somebody killed my husband for no reason," his grieving wife Bienta Barry said. "He worked hard for his kids and his wife. He loved his family. He did everything for us."

Fernando Mateo of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers spoke steps from where Barry was murdered.

"In the last year and a half we have had five murders of cab drivers," Mateo said. "Our drivers are scared. They're terrified to work the streets."

On a more alarming scale, Mamadou was also the 8th person killed in the city since Saturday.
