MTA bus sideswipes, kills man in the Bronx: police

KINGSBRIDGE, Bronx – A 23-year-old man was struck and killed by a MTA bus after it sideswiped him while opening the door of his livery cab Friday morning, according to police.

The incident happened on the corner of West 231st Street and Kingsbridge Avenue around 3 a.m. Friday.

Driver of Diamond taxi service told PIX 11 his passenger got sick and stopped to let him throw up. As he opened the door, a MTA bus came by and fatally struck him.

Both drivers remained at the scene.

NYPD Highway Patrol says it appears to be an accident and no charges are expected.

The identify of the victim has been withheld pending family notification.
