Lazette Sanders is wanted by Memphis Police for allegedly stabbing her daughter in the chest and puncturing one of her lungs.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Officials are searching for a woman who is accused of stabbing her own daughter in the chest with a pair of scissors on Friday.

A family from Chicago was in Whiteville for a funeral when the incident happened.

WREG reported the 16-year-old daughter walked into the Super 8 Motel where she was staying with her mom and turned on the lights, upsetting the sleeping woman.

The girl told police that’s when her mother, Lazette Sanders, yelled at her to turn off the light.

While she was trying to explain, the woman reportedly jumped out of bed saying, ‘ I’m going to kill you’ and rushed at her daughter with a pair of scissors.

She stabbed the girl in the chest, puncturing one of her lungs.

According to police, the mother hid the scissors after the attack and told her family she didn’t know what happened.

The daughter was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center where her condition is unknown.

When police arrived, Sanders had disappeared.

She is wanted for aggravated child abuse, attempted first degree murder, and tampering with evidence, police say.
