YONKERS, N.Y. – A minor league baseball player is on life support after he was shot in a drive-by outside a Yonkers Burger King early Friday, police said.

Police said Mike Nolan, 23, of Yonkers, was standing with a group of people in the parking lot of a Burger King on Central Avenue when a shooter drove alongside them and fired at close range.

Nolan was struck twice in the head and rushed to a hospital where he is on life support, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument over drag racing, a popular activity on that strip of Central Park Avenue, and said it does not appear to be a random attack.

No description of the shooter was immediately released.

Nolan was signed by the Oakland A’s in 2014 and soon after put on the restricted list for the minor league Arizona League Athletics, according to his MILB profile.
