Former NYPD auxiliary cop killed in Catskills car crash with wife, future son-in-law

MAMAKATING, N.Y. — Three people were killed in a car crash in the Catskills Monday afternoon.

The crash happened along Route 17 in Mamakating around 4:30 p.m. Hatzolah and local fire departments were dispatched to the one car crash.

According to JPUpdates, three people were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims included a couple from the Lower East Side and their future son-in-law from Riverdale. The couple's daughter and two sons who were also in the car are in serious condition.

Morris Faitelewicz was a longtime member of Hatzolah and former member of the NYPD's auxiliary emergency services rescue unit. His wife Beth was a registered nurse at Beth Israel Medical Center.

New York State Police say a stretch of the highway was closed following the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
