Long Island man killed in hit-and-run crash in Bay Shore

BAY SHORE, N.Y. — Police are looking for the person responsible for hitting and killing a pedestrian early Saturday morning.

Elvin Ponce, 30, was struck and killed by a car travelling east on Redington Street at 3:10 a.m. Saturday.

Ponce was transported to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the vehicle that fled is a dark colored four-door sedan with possible front end damage.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Vehicular Crime Unit detectives at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
