After living the single life for only a month, Kermit the Frog has found love … again.
“Muppets” star Kermit the Frog has wasted no time moving on from his breakup with longtime girlfriend Miss Piggy and is now dating an ABC assistant named Denise, according to a story in People magazine.
Kermit and Miss Piggy announced their split on Twitter at the beginning of August .
“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship,” writes Kermit. “We will continue to work together on television (‘The Muppets’/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter … unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”
Kermit and Miss Piggy, who were together for close to 40 years, have been slinging veiled insults at each other since the breakup was announced last month — perhaps not so coincidentally in conjunction with the production of their new ABC show, “The Muppets.”
“Dating moi is like flying close to the sun,” Miss Piggy said at the Television Critics Association gathering in early August. “It was inevitable that Kermit would drop down to the ground while I stayed in the heavens.”
In response, Kermit — who is producing Miss Piggy’s “Up Late with Miss Piggy,” the show-within-a-show of “The Muppets” — noted that he was trying to stay above the fray.
“We can be professionals. Well, one of us can. Me,” he told the Guardian.
Apparently Miss Piggy has also engaged in diva behavior on set. Her complaints won Kermit a $20 bet.
However, celebrities have lined up behind Miss Piggy. Liam Hemsworth has posted all of one photo to his new Instagram account, and it consists of the “Hunger Games” star with the porcine performer.
“Spent Friday with the most beautiful girl in the world,” the Hunger Games star posted along with a photo of himself with Miss Piggy. “Kermit, #SorryNotSorry.”
Kermit and Miss Piggy continue to work together on her late-night talk show “Up Late with Miss Piggy.”
The talk show will be documented on “The Muppets” which premieres Tuesday, Sept. 22 on ABC.
