Unconscious man is found engulfed in flames behind a building in Astoria

ASTORIA, Queens — An unconscious man was discovered engulfed in flames early Saturday morning behind a building in Queens, police say.

Police responded to a 911 call just before 7 a.m. when they discovered the unresponsive man in his 20’s or 30’s in Astoria.

Responding FDNY personnel were able to extinguish the flames. Authorities later discovered a gunshot wound on the left side of his body.

EMS personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities were working Saturday to identify the victim.
