No charges for driver accused of fatally hitting 8-year-old in Flatbush

FLATBUSH, Brooklyn – Police say a driver is not facing charges at this point after hitting a 8-year-old girl Wednesday evening when she was trying to cross a street.

According to police, a 35-year-old man was driving a Toyota SUV south on E. 22nd St. while Jadann Williams, 8, was crossing the street from east to west when she was hit around 5 p.m.

Police say the driver stayed on the scene and tried to help.

Police found her lying in the road with severe head trauma. She was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
