Woman, 69, struck and killed by MTA bus in Midtown

MIDTOWN — A woman was fatally struck by an MTA express bus Thursday morning when she stepped into a Midtown intersection.

The 69-year-old, who hasn’t been identified pending family notification, was crossing West 57th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue when she was hit by an MTA X5 bus heading westbound on 57th.

EMS found the woman unconscious and unresponsive and rushed her to Cornell Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The bus driver remained at the scene, and an investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
