"Straight Outta Compton", the controversial  new movie about the rap group NWA, topped the box office but has also been getting some backlash for the direction of police officers and women in the film.

More than 20 years later, have relationships between police officers and black men improved, or have they remained the same? Pop culture expert Lisa Durden, XXL magazine contributor, Sean Malcolm and former NYPD Lieutenant Dr. Darrin Porcher weighed in on the subject.
