7 injured after NJ Transit bus slams into Jersey City car dealership

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey — Seven people were hurt when a New Jersey Transit bus slammed into a car dealership in Jersey City Tuesday morning.

The Route 1 bus driver left Newark and was heading to Journal Square when the bus jumped a curb around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Marcy and Communipaw avenues, according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Jennifer Nelson.

The bus careened into the Hudson Hyundai dealership, slamming into several cars.

EMS took seven of the 12 people aboard to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating and the cause of the accident is not clear.
