Police confirm 3rd fatality in crash on Taconic Parkway

YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Police say three people have died after a crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Saturday in Yorktown on the southbound side of the highway.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW SUV was driving northbound when it drove into the center median, hitting an embankment. The car then flew into the southbound lanes, hitting two other vehicles.

A third vehicle was also involved in the crash.

According to New York State Police, three people have died and one person is in critical condition. Five people were taken to Westchester Medical Center where they are in stable condition. Two people were treated and released from Hudson Valley Hospital.

The names of the victims have not been released at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
