SOUTH BRONX – Police are looking for group of armed men that broke into a South Bronx apartment and sexually assaulted a woman Monday evening.

The incident happened when a 37-year-old man was entering his apartment on 380 East 143rd St. about 6 p.m. Monday when four men, who were equipped with a gun, forced their way in, according to police. Once they entered, they forced the man to his knees, put a gun on his head and demanded his property, NYPD said. At this point, a 39-year-old woman who was alarmed by the commotion inside the apartment came running out, cops said.

One of the burglars then grabbed the woman and hauled her into a bedroom, demanding to know where her property was before sexually abusing her, according to the NYPD.

The thieves then fled the apartment with money, cell phones and keys, police said.

The two victims refused medical attention on the scene.

Sources confirmed to PIX11 that one of the four men has been taken into questioning. No arrests have been made. The investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
