1 dead in Linden wreck after dump truck hits overpass

LINDEN, New Jersey - One person died Tuesday when his vehicle burst into flames after overturning in Linden along the New Jersey Turnpike, according to state police.

The truck was traveling in the southbound lanes when it slammed into the Wood overpass near Exit 13A around 10:30 a.m.  The man, who hasn't been identified, died at the scene.

The roads were closed for hours after the crash. The lanes have since reopened with residual delays.


Stranded motorists and passengers could be seen playing baseball and sunbathing in the middle of the Turnpike to pass the time as the delays stretched from minutes into hours.
