TAHITI – After figuring out how to ‘surf’ on a motorcycle, Australian stunt rider Robbie “Maddo” Maddison took his dirt bike to one of the most punishing big wave locations in the world — Teahupoo in Tahiti.

Maddison is well-known for pushing the limits on land — he’s jumped on top of the Arc de Triomphe at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, and vaulted the Corinth Canal in Greece — but what awaited him in Tahiti was a terrifying, completely different challenge.

Teahupoo’s waves start in deep water, then collide with a shelf of sharp reef, causing the wave to jack up violently and slam down over shallow water.

Dressed in his helmet and motocross suit, Maddison took his dirt bike — outfitted with several plastic skiis — to one of the most dangerous waves in the world, and seemingly defied logic by tearing across the massive, salt-water faces of several giant waves.

it wasn’t perfect however, asked how many times it took him to film the groundbreaking “Pipe Dream” video for DC Shoes, Maddison replied, “Enough times to seriously consider quitting & more injuries accrued than some on permanent disabilities.”
