1 dead, 2 injured in overnight shooting at Bronx playground

BRONX, N.Y. — Police say one person is dead and multiple people are injured after a shooting at a playground in the Bronx early Sunday morning.

Officers responded around 1:31 a.m. to the report of a shooting inside the Space Time Playground at the corner of Bolton Avenue and Lafayette Street.

Three people were found with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to EMS, Christian Garcia, 20, of Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, was found shot in the chest and died at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was found shot in the leg and transported to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

A 17-year-old female sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was transported by EMS to Lincoln Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
