LONG ISLAND — Service has been restored on the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches but LIRR riders are being warned of delays in both directions after a strong storm swept through the region and flooded the tracks.

Commuters should expect delays because trains are traveling at slower speeds due to flooding at the Urban Avenue crossing in Westbury, the transit agency said.

At least one train traveling on the Montauk branch — the 5:09 p.m. from New York Penn — is also delayed because of flooding, in that case in the area west of Hicksville Station.
