NEW YORK, July 23, 2015—PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting’s New York CW affiliate, has been named a finalist for the National News & Documentary Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). PIX11 was nominated in the Outstanding Regional News Story – Spot News category for the station’s coverage of the Metro-North train derailment.

“This nomination is a reflection of the commitment and dedication our news team continues to display on a daily basis inside the local community,” said Amy Waldman, News Director, PIX11.  “I’m proud of the entire team and how quickly everyone jumped into action to capture the story when this awful tragedy took place.”

Now in its 36th year, the News & Documentary Emmy® Awards continues its mission of honoring the documentary films, news reports, and multimedia projects that exemplify the best of broadcast journalism, honoring programming distributed during the calendar year 2014. The awards will be presented on Monday, September 28th, 2015 in New York City.
