HOBOKEN, N.J. — It was a beautiful night along the Hudson River in Sinatra Park Thursday as hundreds of guitarists gathered in an attempt to break a world record.

"I'm really looking forward to being part of the event, this is so magnificent," Maribel Guerrero said.

Hundreds of musicians started the night playing Bob Dylan's "Knocking On Heaven's Door."

The record title they are aiming for is "Largest guitar ensemble," according to a spokesperson for Guinness World Records.

Organizer Jim Mastro, owner of the Guitar Bar in Hoboken, is hopeful. And if not this year, he said, maybe next year.

A spokesperson for Guinness World Records told PIX11 News the largest guitar ensemble was achieved by 6,346 participants in an event organized in Poland in 2009.
