SOUTH BRONX — Video released by police Thursday shows a shooter walk right up to his victim, aim his weapon at the back of the victim’s head and pull the trigger.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find the culprit.

Officers were called about 8:40 a.m. Thursday to 650 Westchester Ave. where a man was outside on the sidewalk unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim -- identified as Luis Garcia, 40, of the Bronx -- was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Surveillance cameras captured the fatal encounter. The shooter walked up behind Garcia and pointed a gun at the 40-year-old’s head. Before the victim knew anyone was behind him, the shooter pulled the trigger.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
