INWOOD — Upper Manhattan residents got a toothy visitor Thursday when an alligator was spotted casually walking down the street.

"So this alligator was crossing 9th Avenue in Inwood . . . no, really," police at the 34th Precinct tweeted.

There was apparently a little confusion over whether it was a crocodile or alligator, but a spokesperson for Animal Care & Control confirmed that the reptile was indeed an alligator.

NYPD officers caught up to the gator at 205th Street and took it into custody, turning the animal over to Animal Care & Control.
