ALBANY — A young cancer patient had her dream wedding Thursday thanks to the hospital staff where she’s receiving treatment.

Albany Medical Center posted a video of the “wedding ceremony” on Thursday to their Facebook page. The nurses, carrying flowers, walked into the hospital room before the Abby, the bride-to-be walks in. Wedding attendees sang “Here Comes the Bride” as Abby walks in and is given away by her mother to nurse Matt Hickling.

Hickling wrote on Facebook about the wedding which his new bride says was the “best day ever.”

He said Abby shyly asked him to marry her.

“We sealed the deal with ring pops being placed on our fingers! We then took a stroll down the hall in our ‘Just Married’ car (well I pushed) and headed back into the room for cake and photos,” Hickling wrote.

Local businesses chipped in with food and flowers to help make the dream wedding happen.

According to a Facebook page created for Abby, the young girl is battling Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

For those who have criticized the family, Abby’s mom shares these words.

“And to those who have negative things to say about this ordeal and this wonderful man … In the words of Taylor Swift… ‘Haters gonna hate hate hate.'”
