Crane collapses in Ridgefield construction accident, taking down power lines

RIDGEFIELD, New Jersey - A crane collapsed at a New Jersey construction site Wednesday, knocking out power lines and blocking the street.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at a PSE&G substation along Hendricks Causeway in an industrial section of New Jersey.

The crane toppled over, snapping telephone poles in half and striking one passing car.  Neither the car's driver nor the crane operator were injured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
