Suspect wanted in connection to anti-Muslim hate crime in Chinatown

CHINATOWN, Manhattan – The NYPD is looking for the man responsible for leaving a 19-year-old woman with a fractured jaw after he spit on and yelled racial slurs at her.

At 10:40 p.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old victim was involved in a verbal dispute with the suspect in front of 109 East Broadway, according to NYPD.

Police say he made “anti-Muslim statements” at the victim, then began to spit and punch her in the face.

The victim suffered a fractured jaw from the altercation, and was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect fled on Eldrige St. Police say the suspect is a five-foot-eight to ten Black man, wearing a dark colored hat, dark pants, a dark shirt, and carrying a plastic bag.
