Foster mother of 7 found dead inside her Bronx home: NYPD

MOTT HAVEN, Bronx–A manhunt is on for the killer of a foster-mother of seven children after she was found dead inside her Bronx home Thursday evening.

Police were called to the Mitchell Houses on East 135th Street in the Mott Haven section of Bronx at 8:30 p.m. Thursday of an assault in progress.

Upon arrival, police discovered Wanda Martin, unconscious and unresponsive, with injuries to the head and stab wounds to her back.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.

Sources tell the Daily News that Martin's fiance, 50-year-old Darrel Gibb is a person of interest.

It wasn't immediately known if her children were at home at the time of the fatal assault.
