Brooklyn man, Quentin Merritt, dies from gunshot to buttocks

Quentin Merritt, 54  was shot in the buttocks and killed in Bedford Stuyvesant, said police.

BEDFORD STUYVESANT, Brooklyn — A 54-year-old man was shot in the buttocks in Bedford Stuyvesant and days later died of his injuries, police said.

Police responded to a 911 call at 11 p.m. July 3 of a male shot on Van Buren Street. When they arrived, they found the victim — Quentin Merritt, 54 — with gunshot wounds around the buttocks. He was lying in the hallway of the second floor landing at the apartment building where he lived, police said.

Emergency Medical Services responded and took Merritt to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday, said police.

There are no arrests in this case and the incident is still under investigation.
