Amber Alert canceled for baby abducted in NJ allegedly by his father

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- An Amber Alert issued Monday for a 9-month-old and his father has been canceled, police said.

Details about how William Merino and his father by the same name were found.

The child was last seen at 12 South Talmadge St. (map), not far from Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus, police said. He was wearing a yellow shirt and khaki pants, and is about 24 inches to 30 inches tall and 22 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.

Baby William was taken allegedly by his father. The elder Merino is described as 6 feet tall, 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has multiple distinct tattoos, including an MS 13 marking on his left arm and a star tattoo on his neck, police said.

The boy's father was last seen wearing a white sleeveless shirt and blue pants, police said. He left the location on foot.
