NY State Thruway in Yonkers reopens after crash

YONKERS, N.Y. — Southbound lanes on Interstate 87 are fully reopened Friday afternoon after they were closed due to a crash in Yonkers, according to the New York State Thruway Authority.

The crash happened near exit 2 during rush hour on the day before the Fourth of July, when many plan to travel in or out of the city to celebrate Independence Day.

All southbound lanes had been shut down, but as of 6:30 p.m., the crash was cleared and the lanes were reopened, according to the thruway Authority.
