RIDGEWOOD, New Jersey - Lawn chairs of all shapes, sizes and brands line a mile of Maple Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ. Some have been set up for weeks, regardless of the weather. The tradition almost as old as the towns 105 year old parade.

Margie Downs is a third generation resident who has chaired the ridgewood 4th of July parade for years, and says people who have moved away, sometimes come back just for the parade.

It's not simply about getting a good spot, residents say it's more about being part of a community and a sense of good Ole Americana.

And in case you are wondering, yes, most people really do honor the chair system.
