Burglary team steals nearly $3,000 from 99-cent store

THE BRONX -- A pair of thieves stole nearly $3,000 worth of cash and headphones from a dollar store in the Bronx this week, police said Thursday, releasing video of the heist in the hopes of catching the culprits.

It happened sometime between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday at U.S. 99 Cents Plus, located at 1027 Walton Ave. in the Bronx, police said.

Cameras captured the men lifting the store’s roll-down gate then one of them broken through the glass front door. The second man acted as a lookout, police said, then helped his partner carry out the stolen goods. In all, they stole $2,849 in cash and headphones, police said.

Both men are described as black males. One has a medium build and was wearing a baseball hat, hoodie, jeans and sneakers. The other has a slim build, bald head and a bear and was wearing shorts at the time of the break-in.
