NEW MILFORD, N.J. — A 21-year-old woman died Wednesday after a tree struck her outside of her home.
Michelle Mian, a college student, was leaving her home around 7 a.m., when a tree broke in half and fell on her.
Police who responded to the scene found a large tree crushing four vehicles. Mian was found underneath a large tree branch.
Mian was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Detective Lt. Brian Long of the New Milford police says it’s not clear why the tree broke in half, but the heavy rain from the night before may have been a factor.
