NEW YORK — Days before the colorful spectacle that is the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show, a team of pyro-technicians are preparing more than 50,000 effects for the nation’s largest Independence Day display.

Some of the fireworks measure up to 10 inches in diameter and weight up to 35 pounds.
